About pain treatment
Did you know that pain is actually an electrical signal? It's commonly thought that pain is simply an unpleasant sensation, but that's not actually the case. Pain sensors are located throughout the body, and every pain stimulus is instantly converted into an electrical signal. These converted electrical signals are transported to the brain via nerves and the spinal cord, but they pass through several pain relay stations before reaching the brain. These relay stations play a vital role in blocking or moderately suppressing the signals. This mechanism, though abstract, is used in treatment, and pain clinic therapy works by targeting pain sensors, electrical signal pathways, and these relay stations to provide therapeutic benefits
Just as the causes of pain are diverse, so are the treatments. Treatment may involve medication, nerve block therapy that directly affects the nerves, or other customized treatments tailored to each individual's symptoms, selecting the most effective method
To minimize invasiveness, we may opt for simpler treatments without nerve blocks depending on the condition, or, in the case of complex pain disorders, we may simultaneously employ various treatment methods, including the latest pain therapies. Treatment is carried out within a network of specialists including neurologists, surgeons, acupuncturists, chiropractors, and physical therapists, ensuring comprehensive follow-up during and after treatment to aim for rapid functional recovery

After graduating from medical school in Japan, I received medical training in both Japan and the United States. Subsequently, I worked as a pain clinic specialist at UCLA Hospital for about 10 years, treating various types of pain. During my time at UCLA, while also being involved in the education of young doctors, I strived daily to treat pain patients using a wide range of techniques, from advanced medical treatments to basic therapies. My medical practice is based on the principle of using treatment methods that are as minimally invasive as possible and helping patients return to their normal lives as quickly as possibleI hold medical licenses and specialist certifications in both Japan and the United States, and I am well-versed in the medical practices of both countries. I am now opening a clinic in Torrance, Los Angeles, and I aim to provide medical care that combines the best aspects of both Japanese and American medicineWe will always perform a full physical examination, and after the examination, we will explain the cause of your pain and its treatment in the clearest way possible. We will explain not just one treatment method, but several options, along with their advantages and disadvantages.
