In 1993, we opened our first restaurant, "Bishamon," in Covina, California. Our motto is the Five Virtues: Benevolence, Righteousness, Propriety, Wisdom, and Trust. Owner Koyama, who has always valued righteousness, named the first restaurant of the group, "Bishamon," after Uesugi Kenshin, a warlord who highly valued righteousness and is said to have likened himself to a reincarnation of Bishamonten (Vaisravana). Righteousness = a strong heart. True strength lies in possessing both weakness and kindness. Therefore, we are able to understand the perspective of each and every customer. In America, a melting pot of cultures, we aim to create a restaurant that introduces the depth and culture of authentic Japanese food to as many people as possible!
